EXPERIENCE
Mr. Mackel's practice focuses on real estate, land use,
environmental law and telecommunications. He is an aggressive and
effective advocate, whether he is involved in transactional or
litigation matters. His emphasis is on results.
Mr. Mackel has handled numerous arbitrations, mediations and trials
in both state and federal courts. He has extensive experience at
the appellant level and has appeared before the California Supreme
Court.
Mr. Mackel regularly appears before planning commissions, city
councils and various government boards and agencies on behalf of
real estate development firms, property owners and
telecommunications companies. He has represented public agencies in
matters concerning eminent domain and wireless licensing matters.
Mr. Mackel has litigated a wide variety of complex and high dollar
value real estate issues. Recent matters have involved CEQA,
eminent domain, inverse condemnation, environmental cost recovery,
construction defect, subsidence, landslide, leasing and real
estate-related business disputes.
In eminent domain, Mr. Mackel has extensive experience, running the
gamut from right to take challenges, pre-condemnation damages,
valuation of property, loss of business goodwill and severance
damages. He has also handled a number of inverse condemnation
matters involving both regulatory and physical taking issues.
